I received this amusing, yet completely inaccurate, email-forward from Duane Tucker (poetryofthesoul.com) about the birth of certain American politicians and the UFO incident at Roswell, New Mexico…

"Some of you will recall that on July 8, 1947, a little over 60 years ago, witnesses claim that an unidentified flying object (UFO), with five aliens aboard, crashed onto a sheep and cattle ranch just outside Roswell, New Mexico.

"This is a well known incident that many say has long been covered up by the U.S. Air Force and other federal agencies and organizations.

"However, what you may NOT know is that in the month of April 1948, nine months after that historic day, the following people were born:

  • George W. Bush
  • Dick Cheney 
  • Karl Rove   
  • Howard Dean    
  • Bill Bennett     
  • Laura Ingraham     
  • Sean Hannity       
  • Rush Limbough

My comments…

A quick cursory search shows that George W. Bush was actually born July 6, 1946 (wikipedia.org) and Dick Cheney on January 30, 1941 (wikipedia.org). Not that I feel any duty to defend these two questionable characters.

I really mean to defend our interplanetary neighbors and the common farm animal. Personally, I suspect cross-breeding sheep and aliens might produce a superior form of politician. I’d rather have some (benevolent) extraterrestrials in power – if someone must be in power.

I’ll talk more about this in a future column. Let’s just say, I’d have more hope for REAL change if aliens intervened.
